1. September 9, 2001
Ahmad Shah Massoud is killed by 2 Moroccan Men, who are impersonating TV Journalists in Panjshir Valley, Afghanistan. This act is thought to be the beginning of the 9/11 attacks(Windrom, Robert. 4).
2. September 11, 2001
3,044 Americans are killed by three hijacked planes that crashed into the World Trade Center Towers, and the Pentagon. There was also a 4th hijacked plane that crashed into rural Pennsylvania, while it was on a collision course with the Capitol(Windrom, Robert. 4).
3. December 22, 2001
Richard Reid is subdued on an American Airlines flight by the passengers and crew as he attempts to finish a large plan that started with the murder of Ahmad Shah Massoud by lighting a shoe bomb(Windrom, Robert. 4).
4. January 31, 2002
Daniel pearl, a Wall Street Journal reporter, is kidnapped and held for several days by Pakistani militants. He is then beheaded on tape. It is believed that Khalid Sheik Mohammed took part in his capture and murder(Windrom, Robert. 4).
5. March 17, 2002
Americans Barbara Green and her daughter Kristen Wormsley along with 3 others are killed by Islamic militants while the Protestant International Church in Islamabad is attacked(Windrom, Robert. 4).
6. March 20, 2002
In Lima, Peru 9 are killed and 30 are wounded by a car bomb near the U.S. Embassy(Windrom, Robert. 5).
7. April 11, 2002
Near the El Ghriba Synagogue, a Suicide bomber exploded a truck, killing 15 Germans, 5 Tunisians, and a Frenchman. The men believed to be behind the attack are Saad bin Laden, Osama bin Laden’s 3rd youngest son, and Khalid Sheik Mohammed(Windrom, Robert. 5).
8. May 8, 2002
A bus carrying 11 French Navy experts is attacked by a suicide bomber in a car outside the Sheraton Hotel in the southern Pakistani city of Karachi(Windrom, Robert. 5).
9. May, 2002
3 Saudi Arabians who were planning attacks on British and American ships, are arrested and say they are part of the Al-Qaeda network(Windrom, Robert. 5).
10. June 14, 2002
11 people are killed and 45 are wounded when a bomb in the trunk of a car explodes outside the U.S. consulate in Karachi(Windrom, Robert. 5).
11. September 5, 2002
An assassination attempt on Afghan President Hamid Karzai wounds the governor of Kandahar, and one of Karzai’s bodyguards, but doesn’t injure the president. This happens just as 22 people are killed by a car bomb explosion in Kabul, near 2 government offices(Windrom, Robert. 5).
12. October 5, 2002
Off the coast of Al-Mukalla, Yemen, 1 person drowns and 24 are rescued from a French ship after a small boat detonated a bomb next to it(Windrom, Robert. 6).
